Duncan Baldwin, Chair
Chair of EduDATA
Duncan Baldwin is the chair of EduDATA. He is a former secondary school teacher, senior leader and headteacher and was the Deputy Director of Policy at the Association of School and College Leaders. He has also worked in the MIS sector, where he developed a framework to help school leaders understand the value of the system and how it could support school improvement, and managed the quality assurance of local support teams.
He is widely known as a national authority on school performance measures, qualifications and assessment. While at ASCL, Duncan led all policy and training relating to the introduction of Progress 8 and supported thousands of school leaders through the centre-assessed grades process during Covid.
Duncan is currently an independent consultant. He works as a school improvement partner for a number of secondary schools in Liverpool and elsewhere around the country. He supports the business development of a number of small edtech companies.
Following his leadership on data collaboration for Progress 8, Duncan firmly believes that if schools collaborate over their data then together they improve efficiency and insight, and deliver better outcomes for pupils with reduced workload for teachers. Duncan is committed to building this approach across schools of all types and supporting the work of data leaders in the process through his role at EduDATA.
